This is My Silence

Everyone hears silence differently, especially people experiencing tinnitus have a unique ringing tone in their ears. This led me to the campaign line – This is My Silence
IDEA: When you’re alone the noise of tinnitus is just a single note, only when you come together and share your “silence” you can become part of the harmony.
PROCESS: After asking a variety of people with tinnitus to hum the tone they hear; we collected a bunch of non-harmonic tinnitus tones. I challenged my composer to create a melody using these, which became our commercial's music.
RESPONSE: I made a conceptual film depicting tinnitus, its effects on people and how knowing you’re not alone can make a difference. “This is My Silence” film started an organic hashtag movement on social media during tinnitus awareness week and encouraged people to share their “silences”. The commercial sparked conversation and was picked up by BBC One Morning Live show.

To encapsulate a 200-page story within 30 seconds I focused on the overall feeling the book evoked in me: getting lost in an ancient forrest.
I’ve convinced the client to use the audiobook instead of the physical one to capture their brief and visualise the emotion I was after: Run wild with wolf brother, in a Stone Age world.
Sir Ian McKellen’s deep and wise voice is the perfect invitation to get lost in a world of ancient magic.

When a funky liquor brand from Bristol with spirits names like asked me to make a commercial, I took inspiration from David Bowie’s personas.
Much like Bowie who put on different faces throughout his career, we all have different characters within us waiting to be unleashed in the right moment.
Who do you want to be today? – became the central idea for the commercial
I created & directed a conceptual commercial where the central character bounces between the colourful worlds of the different bottles, posing this very question to the viewer.
I also made social media films, each corresponding to the different days of the week.
